In September 2004 Kingswood-Oxford School started offering its first online course - the Research Technology Course required of all 3rd Form and new Upper School students. This course is offered using a Course Management System called Moodle and is accessible via browser at the Kingswood-Oxford Online site at wyvern.k-o.org/moodle. The main page at the site is a menu and logon page and looks like this: (the color may be different)


Although there are Main Menu items and Demo courses that have guest access, any course work for a grade you do at the site will require you to be logged on. To log on, click on the word Login located above the language indicator box in the upper right corner of the page.


This will transport you to the logon page:


Depending on the computer you are using to access the system, the Username: box will be blank, or contain your username, or the previous user's username.

If you have a Kingswood-Oxford Online account (and all students taking the RT course should), your Username is the same as your Network logon name and FirstClass logon name and is in the format: lastname.firstinitial.twodigitclassyear (i.e. smith.j.06). Your initial Password is also the same as your initial Network password and is either your birthdate in the form: mmddyyyy or, if we don't have it, 99999999. If your RT account Username or Password does not work, please see Mrs. Solomon in the Upper School Library.
Enter your Username in the Username: box and then your Password in the Password: box and click on Login (or press Enter).

If your logon is successful you will be returned to the Kingswood-Oxford Online main page. If you look at the upper right corner of the page, you will see where the 'Login' word was now shows your name and the word 'Logout' in parens:


Please Note: To protect your work and access to your account, make sure you click on the Logout word when you are finished with a session. Students are responsible for their work and their accounts and Lost or Deleted work can not be recovered from this system!

If at anytime you want to make changes to the information others can see about you on this system (your profile), just click on your name and you will be brought to your Profile page.


Click on the Edit Profile box to see the options for altering your account info. Here you can also change your password, but make a note of any new passwords as they can not be looked up, only changed.

If you are taking the Research Technology course, the first time you logon you should click on the RT Online Course Main Menu selection to start the course:


Later you can go directly to the RT course modules list by selecting Research Technology from the Courses menu on the Main Page:


From there you can select the module you wish to work on.

That's it! You are now ready to logon on to the Kingswood-Oxford Online course system. Good Luck with your course!
