K-O Technology Department Help Desk

During days while school is open the Technology Department provides two ways for faculty and staff members to inform us about computer related problems that need attention.

By Phone: The Technology Department has a dedicated phone at extension 2828 set up to receive calls for computer support issues. This line goes directly to voice mail. Please leave a message about the problem with as much information as possible, including; who you are, where the problem is, and a description of what seems to be happening - or not happening. The line is monitored throughout the day and the problem will be checked and/or you will be called back to set up an appointment for someone to come to your location and work on the problem.

By E-mail: All faculty and staff have access to a conference on their FirstClass desktop called Help Desk. This conference has been created to receive written messages about computer problems, upgrades and other needs. To leave a message about a computer issue in this conference, double click on the Help Desk icon to open the conference and then click on the New Message icon at the top of the page. This opens the mail form where you write your message (with as much information about the issue as you can tell). When you are finished with the message click on the Send Message icon to send it to the conference. To protect your privacy we have set up the conference so that users of the conference can see the titles of the messages, but can not open them to read the content. We will read your message and fix the problem or contact you for an appointment to work on your equipment.

For Students: Students do not have access to the Help Desk conference or an icon to it on their FirstClass desktops, but as the primary users of the public computers around campus we depend on them to let us know when something in those areas is not working. Students who discover equipment that is not working correctly should contact the following people: For computers in the Middle School Resource Room or the MS Computer Lab (i.e. "the jungle") - Mrs. Brodeur, for Computers in the Upper School Library - Mrs. Solomon or Mrs. Willey, and for computers in the Art Computer Lab - Ms. Rushford. For other computer problems either tell the teacher who assigned you the computer work or send an e-mail to Mr. Birchall the Director of Technology at (birchall dot r at k-o dot org).
