Welcome to the official web site of the Tech Department at Kingswood-Oxford School - an independent 6-12 day school located in West Hartford, CT.
After discussions with our students, parents, teachers, staff and alumni, the Technology department has adopted the following goal: To establish an Information and Communications Technology environment that promotes teaching and learning 21st century content in a 21st century context.
In pursuit of this goal, which essentially integrates learning with using 21st century technology skills across multiple courses and disciplines, our plan is each year to review the current state of computing hardware, software and services available to, and in use by, schools like ours; to set a series of internal objectives (steps) that will, as they are accomplished, evolve the K-O ICT environment; and to closely monitor where and how new technology and practices can aid in our progress.
Recent results of this ongoing technological self-evaluation, include; in 2004 implementing an online course management system and offering our first online course - the Research Technology course required of all students, in 2006 launching an initiative to provide all Form III students with Flash Drives for personal use and, as a result of the success of that effort, in 2007 expanding our Flash Drive initiative to include distribution to Middle School students in Upper Prep, Form I and Form II.
We are proud of the Technology structure we have at K-O and the many ways it serves our community each day. Please take a few minutes to explore some of our links and learn more about this exciting aspect of life at Kingswood-Oxford School.
